Stainless steel 13-8Mo tubes have excellent corrosion resistance, especially to stress-corrosion cracking. They are also resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and other types of general corrosion. Additionally, they have good resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and nitric acid. That makes them well-suited for use in chemical processing applications. The corrosion resistance of 13-8Mo tubes is due to a combination of elements, including high levels of chromium and molybdenum.

Stainless steel 13-8Mo pipes have a chemical composition of 13% chromium, 8% nickel, 2% molybdenum, and 0.08% carbon. Adding molybdenum and nickel to the alloy enhances its strength and toughness. Chromium, on the other hand, provides the pipes with excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance. Carbon content is kept low to avoid the formation of carbides, which can reduce the material’s toughness.
