Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires
Stainless Steel 204Cu Wire is a low-cost alternative to conventional austenitic stainless steel wires. It is a variation of the 200 series steel, containing 16-18% of chromium, 2-3% of copper, and a small amount of Nitrogen. Adding copper improves the alloy’s mechanical properties, making it suitable for applications that require high strength and high corrosion resistance. Additionally, the presence of Nitrogen improves the strength and toughness of the wires.

Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires’ Corrosion Resistance
Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires have excellent corrosion resistance due to copper in the alloy. Copper acts as a self-healing agent, forming a protective oxide layer that helps prevent corrosion in harsh environments. Additionally, the wires are resistant to hot and cold deformation and can be used in high temperatures up to 900°C.
Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires’ Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires contains 16-18% Chromium, 2-3% Copper, and a small amount of Nitrogen. The low percentage of carbon and manganese makes the alloy less prone to precipitation of chromium carbides, which improves its corrosion resistance. The wires also have a low nickel content, which makes them a cost-effective alternative to other austenitic stainless steels.
Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires Heat Treatment
Stainless Steel 204Cu Wires have an excellent heat treatment response, which allows them to be hardened and strengthened through cold work, heat treatment, or a combination of both. The alloy can be annealed at temperatures ranging from 1010-1150°C, followed by a quench in water to achieve maximum softness. It can also be hardened by cold working or heat treatment, improving its strength and fatigue resistance.
